It rests as a chest for automotive use or sits vertically for use as a home, office or dorm 1.35 cu. ft. refrigerator. Plastic tray/shelf functions as a tray in horizontal position and as a shelf in vertical position. Multiple shelf guides allow customized organization. Lid gasket assures a tight seal. NB: All 12v units of this type (not just Igloo) will draw approximately 4amps per hour; so it is not advisable to leave them connected to a car for long periods of time if the engine is not running as it could drain the battery.  Also be aware that the internal electrics of many new cars today do not turn off even though the ignition may be off and the keys removed.
